I agree with the answer by @gvdhoorn As I've just stumbled upon this: gmapping has been released into melodic two days ago. So it should be available with the next sync...
slam_gmapping is not released in melodic . still you can create map by using gmapping and create static tf between map , odom and laser .
openslam_gmapping
has been released. slam_gmapping
is in the process of being released.
The former is actually already available in the staging repositories and should be available in the main repositories after the next sync.
