I'm new in ROS forum. My name is Thomas and I come from Italy. I tried to buy the Irobot Create 2, but as you probabily know, in Europe is too difficult to purchase it. Does someone know which is the best substitute of Create 2? Which roomba?

Thank you Thomas

Hi Thomas, welcome!

I believe Roomba 600 series robots are the closest match to Create 2.

Just so you know, create_autonomy (which I am currently developing) supports most Roomba models :)

Thank you Jacob,

i saw that for use the "create_autonomy" i need to install ROS indigo or ROS Jade.

i tried to install ROS indigo on Ubuntu 13.10, but i have a lot of issues to install it.

for example during the update:

thomas@thomas-K72Jk:~$ sudo apt-get install ros-indigo-desktop-full Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies: ros-indigo-desktop-full : Depends: ros-indigo-desktop but it is not going to be installed Depends: ros-indigo-perception but it is not going to be installed Depends: ros-indigo-simulators but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

can you help me?

thank you for your support

It would be more appropriate if you open a new question for your problem.

If you have Hydro already installed, you can just try building create_autonomy (perhaps it will work). Also, make sure you completed the first steps here:
