Is it possible for me to move my entire workspace on Indigo to Melodic?

I'm sorry if this a dumb question.

I have everything I've ever worked on ROS on Indigo, I had to upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 because I bought a new OMEN Laptop and this version of Ubuntu was the only one compatible. Can I just move my previous files to my new catkin workspace on Melodic? Or do I have to patch it, or is it entirely impossible?

Like, for example I understand my files I can, but for example the packages I've downloaded for industrial robots like Motoman. They only say the available distros are Indigo and Kinetic, is there a way for me to patch it or something?

Thank you.

Try it and see what happens. Often the list of distros something works is the list of ones that have been thoroughly tested, so the authors know it will work properly with them. For other distros they can’t know, rather than it definitely won’t. See if there is a kinetic-devel branch that has been worked on and checkout that if there is.

Jumping two long term support versions does increase the risk of incompatible changes.
