How to add my move_base package to my ROS_PACKAGE_PATH ?

I have install move_base package, in the opt/ros/lib/move_base,I can see move_base node, but I can't run this node,some people told me to add this package to my ROS_PACKAGE_PATH,and CMAKE_... anyone can tell me detail to solve this problem? many thanks.
