mit-ros-pkg hand_detection/finger_detection is verry slow [closed]

I am completely new to ROS and about to use it for kinect programming (since i need 3D hand tracking). The first steps all went well, and the goal was to get some of the kinect demos running. Both the hand detection and fingerdetection work but they are really slow in my opinion and I would want to have them working smoother before moving on.

In more detail: the primesense user tracker shown no delay of any kind and neither does the skeleton in rviz. However the colored areas that represent hand and fingers in rviz are always staying behind by a couple of seconds. Does anyone have an idea why it runs slow or how i could fix this.

I am running this on a laptop with following hardware: Intel Core2Duo 2.53GHz with 6GB RAM and running ubuntu 10.10 on it with the electric version of ROS installed.
