ps. I miss-spelled sdf. Sorry for the confusion. There is an add-in from Solidworks to URDF, but not to SDF.
I prefer SDF file for over-constrained cable-driven robots. http://wiki.ros.org/sw_urdf_exporter

Dears,

I wonder if direct conversion from Solidworks to SDF will be possible in the future.

I noticed that Onshape to SDF conversion is available now. Onshape to robot tutorial (export URDF, SDF from Onshape) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8oK4...

Do you recommend to switch from Solidworks to Onshape for robotics designs?

IMO, you're better off writing your SDF by hand. Yes it's a tedious task but generators are usually including too much stuff to the robot definition.
