How capable is the Intel RealSense D435i IMU for ROS odometry and SLAM?

I'm currently selecting components for a robot vehicle build and have come across the Intel RealSense D435i which includes a built in IMU. I'm wondering whether this is a good option for use in odometry calculation and autonomous navigation using move_base or whether I may get better results by installing a separate dedicated IMU?

I'm not really sure whether it is possible to provide the IMU data to the ROS system in the way that is expected. What do people think?

Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome!
