Update ROS Lunar to Melodic

I have ROS Lunar installed on a Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS. I want to install ROS Melodic. What do I need to do? Just uninstall Lunar and the install Melodic?

I don't want to make a mistake and need to reinstall Ubuntu.

Why Melodic ? If you are on Ubuntu 16.04 it would be easier to install ros kinetic simply with sudo apt-get install ros-kinetic-desktop-full If you really want Melodic you should use Ubuntu 18.04.
