Hello,

I'm a sales engineer with an industrial camera manufacturer (Lumenera). I would like to know the process for getting our cameras officially supported as we have had a few customers who have used them successfully in their ROS projects. Look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks, Brendan

Do you have an internal software development team?

Yes we do. I'm sure I could also make a sample camera to you for validation.

I'm part of an initiative called ROS-Industrial. We have some experience with working with OEMs that are looking to provide official support for their products in ROS. What works best we've noticed is if the OEM is directly involved. Either by doing the development ..

.. themselves, or by cooperating closely with a company that does it for them. Writing ROS components (so called nodes) for (industrial) cameras is not that hard (though needs to be done correctly), and in the end the OEM knows their product best. Setting up customer support is also much easier ..

.. if you have in-house devs that have worked with/on the product you're supporting. That also tends to reduce overhead related to support related queries (less parties involved) and strengthens relationships with customers.

Did someone from our project reach out to you already?
