There is a dashboard to show Ardent package status, it's really a good stuff! But I didn't find similar dashboard for all the ROS2 projects. The project maturity dashboard should be very useful for anyone who start to study ROS2 and would like to understand the individual project status. Of course, it's much better if ROS2 projects are categorized in the dashboard in a way, like: ros2 core, ros2 perception, ... If you know such material has already been there, please kindly let me know. Thanks!

Edit: Let me explain with more details.

For http://repo.ros2.org/status_page/ros_... (Ardent dashboard mentioned above), about 52 ROS2 repositories are covered with 183 packages. I believe they are in good status as a part of official ROS2 release.

For ROS2 all projects , there are about 81 repositories, but we don't know what status they are. e.g. freertps has not been updated more than 1 month with some open PRs, which might hints this project is to be obsolete or not actively maintained. For this case, it's not a mature project.

I'd like to see if there is an overall dashboard but not Ardent only to show projects status, so anyone who start to look at ROS2 can get quick understanding about the project status, which project is mature enough with most features in place, which project is not mature enough yet but under active development, which project is not mature and need more contribution from community, and which project might be obsoleted and don't need further development efforts, etc. This will save learning efforts for community people who would like to work on active project.

Hope this clarify.

I don't understand this question. The dasboard is about the release status of the respective debian packages. And this has, in the end, nothing to do with "maturity". The Dashboard you linked IS for ROS2. So what is your question?

Those status pages are not widely known, so I can understand the confusion.

@cathyshen: as @mig explained, those pages (because there are more, for ROS1 as well) display the status of builds for packages that have been released through the ROS buildfarm. The categories reflect that ..

.. and not the maturity of ROS2 as a whole (although that depends on what you understand maturity to mean).

See repositories.ros.org/status_page for the same pages, but for ROS1.

I think right now no such dashboard exists. A combination of the information on the ROS2 waffle board and the roadmap probably comes the closest.

Perhaps someone from the OSRF can give an authoritative answer.

Finally: could I ask you to please not use answers to post updates or provide more information? Only use answers to answer your own question. For everything else, use comments or edit your original question. Use the edit link/button for that.

Such information about the "maturity" of existing ROS packages doesn't even exist in ROS 1. It has been often requested but nobody has worked towards establishing this. Therefore I don't think this is something which will happen in ROS (2) soon.

Thanks gvdhoorn and Dirk Thomas, that really answered my question. You are right, "maturity" might not explicite, and "status" might be more closer to what I'm looking for. I'll check ROS2 waffle board and the roadmap.

@Dirk Thomas: making quality more visible is one of the goals of ROSIN, so there might be some work towards that in the future.
