Siemens s71200 plc - Snap7 or ROS modbus?

I have a s7-1200 PLC from which I am going to extract data of my laser scanner? Now there are two libraries for both based on python - Snap7 and ROS based modbus. Is there anyone who has used both of them and can tell how one stands one against another?
