I have been working on microphone array processing with mobile robot, and seeking a way to simulate sounds in Gazebo.

As far as I've searched, there are some of sound capturing (HARK, ROAR, etc..) and sound generating in real world (audio_play, etc..) with ROS. However, I couldn't find any for audio simulation plugin in Gazebo and getting the signal to ROS.

Is there any Gazebo plugin or such working project for simulating audio signals for ROS? Basically it could be possible with ray tracing but seems have not been done.

p.s. I think this question is for here, but If this question is not suitable for ROS community I'll port this to Gazebo forum.

We can leave the question open, as there is a "and get the data to ROS" part to it. However, it would seem the first problem would be to get Gazebo to support directional audio (if it doesn't have it already). I don't think you'll get many answers on this forum about that.
