ROS navigation stack & custom robot

I have made custom robot and succeeded in building a map.My robot has two active wheel And It has only one velocity which means it can go forward or backward and capable of in place rotation only. When I use navigation stack , it finds its destination in open terrain without much problem.But when I target destination pass through relatively narrow corridor it goes back and fourth rotates around entering corridor .(using fuerte ,ubuntu 12.04) (I have been been reading several question similar to mine and have been tweaking many parameter for several days without success). Then i read that navigation stack is for holonomic robot or differential drive robot.

Does it mean my robot not suited for navigation stack?
