hector slam and navigation with depth sensor

Can hector slam, gmapping and navigtion packages like move base used with depth sensor instead of lidar only? I have tested this packages with rplidar A1 but is this also possible to use the depth sensor realsense d415 with this packges for slam, localization and navigation purpose?
