Hi,

I was just wondering if it is possible to use a map from lets say...Google Maps(?) and using waypoints to plan out a specific trail for the robot to follow? I am planning to use the SLAM technique so the robot can create its own map, but I also want it to follow specific waypoints that I input. Is this possible? How would I be able to achieve both? How would it work?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm still new to ROS so I don't know much... but I was wondering where do you guys usually get the map from for the map_server.

Thanks~

Hi,

I'm new to ROS and I just want a little background information about map_servers. I was wondering how do I find a map. Do I have to use programs like GeoServer, MapServer, Google Maps, etc to obtain my map? I have also heard about the SLAM technique that can build a map but I am not really headed that way. I am more focused on knowing if it is possible to input longitude/latitude values and possibly generate a map from that?

Thanks~
