Hey everyone, I'm excited to join this community & hopefully get ROS 2 working soon. So I'm having some trouble:

from step 1 trying to setup locale # check for UTF-8 I get an error from

$ locale locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_CA:en LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL= $ sudo update-locale LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = "en_CA:en", LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "en_US.UTF-8" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). * update-locale: Error: invalid locale settings: LANGUAGE="en_CA:en" LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 LANG=en_US.UTF-8

but I hoped that this wasn't a problem since I chose American English so I continued:

$ sudo add-apt-repository universe Error: 'universe' invalid

again not know what else to do I continued after adding ros repository to my souces.list I get an error that apt-key is deprecated use trusted.gpg.d instead

here is the contents of my sources.list:

deb bullseye main contrib non-free deb-src bullseye main contrib non-free

deb bullseye-security main contrib non-free deb-src bullseye-security main contrib non-free

deb bullseye-updates main contrib non-free deb-src bullseye-updates main contrib non-free

deb impish main deb-src impish main

please help Best regards Nick
