aaaahhhh! this problem has been giving me endless cr*p anyway.. aside from the bash script that I cant get working for some reason the only other answer I found that worked is this:
killall -s 9 XnSensorServer
to run before you rerun the openni_launch - this still does not solve all the other errors and problems:
but it does help not having to restart your entire system to get it running again..
