Is there a sample environment for an agricultrural field with crops or trees for gazebo sim or similar?

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a sample environment already available to test agricultural bots in simulation? Any hint is appreacheated!

A field with crops a farm with sehd a plantage with trees a vineyard ...

I want to make some tests regarding sensor position and also make a simple controller run. I am aware that in this field testing is cruicial, however a sim in gazebo, unity or similar would help, at first.

Thanks a lot!

It's not clear from your question what kind of interaction you are interested in simulating. But be aware that gazebo is a physics simulator, and performance drops exponentially as the number of objects in the simulation increases.

Hi Mike, thanks for your hint! The idea is to start with a plane, not neccesarily structured (but nice if possible). Ideally, some trees or crops shall be added and the gained cloudpoints visualized and a simple collision avoidance task shall be conducted.

Reaching that point we have to decide whether to continue with sim or start on the real robot. However, we hope that some simulations can also be used for visuliization purposes.

Do you have some more ideas, tricks which might help on the way?

All the best! Daniel

I don't have any experience with large gazebo simulations, but I read posts on this site complaining that gazebo is intolerably slow when people attempt them.

Have a look at this repository of clearpathrobotics. There are several outdoor gazebo worlds. https://github.com/clearpathrobotics/...

Hi there,

thanks for the fast response! That helps a lot at first!

If someone knows similar environments, feel free to add repos in this question! All the best!
