equipment require to make a simple SLAM robot

I want to make a SLAM robot using LIdar and Raspberry Pi 3, please tell me all the required equipment that I'll be needed to make it complete like which odometers and which lidar for indoor mapping??
and do suggest how to start this project at the start. Please guide me right.
