If you have a Pi 2 Model B or newer then you can put Ubuntu 14.04 with ARM on it. Then it's as simple as using apt-get to download ROS.

The rpi3 has a new broadcom chip in it and is ARMv8 whereas the rpi2b is ARMv7. Even if you install everything on an SD card on rpi2b and move the SD card over it won't matter. I tried that same scenario just this morning with no success..

I am new to the forum, and I am getting a Raspberry Pi 3 also. Don't know much about the Pi or ROS yet, and I would like to learn as much as I could about them. Would you be kind and post some tutorials links, example code, projects? Thanks.

Hey Joe, glad to have you at the forums. Unfortunately you posted an answer when this really should be it's own question. You can delete this answer and then up in the top right click "Ask Your Question". Fill out the title + body and make sure you add tags too. Also google will be a big help too.
