bilateral filter parameters

Do you know what do these two parameters mean in bilateral filter? SigmaSpatial & SigmaRange

  • sigma_s the half size of the Gaussian bilateral filter window to use
  • sigma_r the new standard deviation parameter
  • For more information please see C. Tomasi and R. Manduchi. Bilateral Filtering for Gray and Color Images. In Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 1998.

Thanks for the answer. It was helpful :) let me to ask one more question to make your answer more clear.. may I ask you to take a look at page 8 in this PowerPoint file? there is a definition for SigmaRange(at the end of the page)... minimum amplitude of an edge I do not know what amplitude means he
