hai friends

iam trying to built a robot like eddie. im have following things kinect, arduino , ultrasonic sensors 4 n.o , stepper motor(im not having encoder for dc motor or i should buy it)

i want to implement touch screen & joystick control, obstacle avoidance and "follow me" application.

if any body done similar work, give the links to download the code ,hardware assembly instruction , kinect caliberation and its code

hai is it possible to develop system implementing SLAM using only kinect and ultrasonic or sonar sensor? coz laser scanner are costly for my project? also suggest me is there any low cost sensor to go with kinect for SLAM?

my robot has rectangular base. it is like robotic wheel chair using kinect and ultrasonic. im new to ros can any one tell me where to start for this project and give some link for already done package in above idea?

hai im doing project in wheel chair based robot. iam trying to implement obstacle avoidance and control through touch screen

OS: ros ( using ROSSERIAL) SENSOR: ultrasonic sensor ( ping economic) touch screen : using an android mobile.

my problem is iam new to ros i dont know how iam goning to connect these ultrasonic sensors to the pc ? by using phidgets interface? but it seems little costly

what about connecting these all sensors to ARDUINO, then connecting ARDUINO to pc? is possible , will it works good?.

initially i planned to us WINDOWS CE or RTLINUX coz. i got some java codes from the book "LINUX ROBOTICS" by d.newman.

do i need to write some codes like we do in microcontrollers to control the robot or we have just to call already written codes in ros.

but right now i spending lots of time in going through ros wiki, in that wiki showing controlling the turtle in the screen but how it is going to help me in controlling the robot in real world.

sorry for the disturbance. just give me some directions to work on and send some links

my robot is human assitive robot helping disabled but not hummanoid.

do ros provide code to implement control of the robot?

i found some codes in java from the book "linux robotics" by d.newman but that book use RTLinux os, how to reuse those code in ros??

i want to built a robot that is able to do avoid obstracles using the ultra sonic sensor and the robot is controlled by touch screen, i like to implement wall following modes and door passing modes using the sensor. for this do ros provide code to implement control of the robot?? but i found some codes in java from the book "linux robotics" by d.newman but that book use RTLinux os how to re use those code in ros?? since iam planning to use ping sensor how i can interface it to pc where ros is running?? usb ? how? im intrested in adding some navigation algorithm to make the robot autonomous or semi autonomous atleast?? i gone through d* and polar mapping algorithm?? but dont know how to implement it using ros?? please give some links,books, circuit links
