Hello ROS-Community,

I am working my way through the Wil Selby Quadrotor Simulator, but I am having some issues here.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and ROS Melodic.

I clone all packages as mentioned into my workspace and use catkin_make. I first of all did that after cloning the glog_catking and catkin_simple into my src folder. It runs through.

After I get all the other packages which are mentioned and run catkin_make, thats the error I get:

CMake Error at rotors_simulator/rotors_gazebo_plugins/CMakeLists.txt:85 (target_link_libraries):
  Error evaluating generator expression:

    $<TARGET_PROPERTY:UUID::UUID,INTERFACE_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES>

  Target "UUID::UUID" not found.

-- Generating done
-- Build files have been written to: /home/thorsten/catkin_ws/build
Invoking "cmake" failed

There is a lot more of the same errors.

Thanks for any help!

Update: the error changes, when I do the same but as root.

2019-02-15 01:47:37 -0500 marked best answer URDF model not visible in RViz

Hello ROS-Community,

I am currently trying to write my own URDF for my own drone. To check if I do right, i want to make my progress visible in RViz from time to time. The bad thing is, that every time I do launch RViz, nothing appears in it.

This is my URDF File, placed in a package with dependencies rospy, urdf, roscpp.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<robot name="base" xmlns:xacro="http://ros.org/wiki/xacro">

    <property name="base_size_x" value="0.50"/>
    <property name="base_size_y" value="0.50"/>
    <property name="base_size_z" value="0.04"/>

    <link name="base_link">
        <visual>
            <origin xyz="0 0 0" rpy="0 0 0" />
            <geometry>
                <box size="${base_size_x} ${base_size_y} ${base_size_z}" />
            </geometry>
        </visual>
        <collision>
            <origin xyz="0 0 0" rpy="0 0 0" />
            <geometry>
                <box size="${base_size_x} ${base_size_y} ${base_size_z}" />
            </geometry>
        </collision>
    </link>
</robot>

this is my launch File:

<launch>
    <!-- Load URDF/XACRO of the drone model -->
    <arg name="urdf_file" default="$(find xacro)/xacro.py '$(find drone_description)/urdf/drone.xacro' " />

    <param name="robot_description" command="$(arg urdf_file)" />

    <!-- Publish the robot state -->
    <node name="robot_state_publisher" pkg="robot_state_publisher" type="state_publisher">
        <param name="publish_frequency" value="20.0"/>
    </node>

    <!-- Provide simulated control of the robot joint angles -->
    <node name="joint_state_publisher" pkg="joint_state_publisher" type="joint_state_publisher">
        <param name="use_gui" value="True" />
        <param name="rate" value="20.0" />
    </node>

    <node name="rviz" pkg="rviz" type="rviz" args="-d find drone_description/rviz/urdf.rviz"/>
</launch>

RViz opens up, but I cant see anything in there. I run Ubuntu 16.04 and ROS Kinetic. When I open RViz it says NO TF Data, but even if i change that with publishing tf data to RViz it doesnt display my model.

Thanks alot for any help!

Edit: This are exactly the commands I am running:

thorsten@ThorstensPC:~$ cd workspace
thorsten@ThorstensPC:~/workspace$ source ./devel/setup.bash
thorsten@ThorstensPC:~/workspace$ cd src
thorsten@ThorstensPC:~/workspace/src$ cd drone_description/
thorsten@ThorstensPC:~/workspace/src/drone_description$ roslaunch drone_description drone.launch

And this is my RViz, after I added a RobotModel as mentioned below:

Hello ROS Community,

I am currently trying to get the ROS_quadrotor_simulator from Wil Selby running on my machine. I am following the wiki from his github ( https://github.com/wilselby/ROS_quadr... ).

When i try to run catkin make after I got the glog_catkin and catkin_simple package i get the following error:

Invoking "make -j12 -l12" failed

I am running all this on Ubuntu 18.04 and the ROS melodic distro.

I appreciate any help on that. Thanks alot!

Update - thats the full error i get:

2019-02-01 05:56:15 -0500 marked best answer MoveIt Tutorial - All Links at the same place!

Hello ROS-Community,

I am currently working my way through the MoveIt-GettingStarted Tutorial ( https://ros-planning.github.io/moveit... ). I do have installed Ubuntu 18.04 and ROS Melodic.

Everything works fine, until I try to add 'MotionPlanning' from the moveit_ros_visualization folder into my RViz. All Links appear at the same place and it seems like there are no Joints loading. I checked via rqt graph if my joint_state_publisher or my robot_state_publisher is not working. But regarding to rqt_graph both are actually working.

Any advice how I can fix that problem would be great. Thansk alot!
