Why did the "--pid" argument vanished from roscore in Fuerte?

Hi there, the --pid argument of the roscore is particulaly useful IMHO but has been removed from Fuerte.

Would it be possible to reintegrate it into Groovy or Hydromedusa?

For instance, this is used in my upstart wrapping around roscore so that I can provide pid information in /var/run/
