Add new arbitrary obstacle to navigate
Hi i have a pioneer 3dx working perfectly with gmapping and navigation but i need to add an arbitrary obstacle in the middle of the "map" so the pioneer avoids it. how can i add this obstacle so that the robot considers it when it navigates. Can i add a new obstacle to the obstacle topic or add it to the costmap? I would really appreciate some help

which simulator you are using? Can you able to build the 2D global map of the enviroment?

@Brian Smith im not using a simulator im using a real robot. I am able to build the 2D global map but i need to "add" new arbitrary infromation to it , any ideas how
