How to use IMU in scan matching

Hello

I would like to know how IMU is been used in scan matching by AMCL And Hector mapping?? My sensor package consist of IMU and Laser range finder. So I dont know to fuse the IMU in the scan matching process to get better pose estimation. Any help??
