Hokuyo Laser not appearing under /dev [closed]

I'm trying to follow the instructions for the hokuyo node here: http://www.ros.org/wiki/hokuyo_node/Tutorials/UsingTheHokuyoNode

Nothing is coming up when I "ls /dev/ttyACM*" My laser is connected to a usb port and the green light on top of the laser is on.

Does anyone have an idea of why this might happen?

Can you edit your post with the output of 'dmesg'?
