ros2 galactic publish subscribe does not work

I just installed ros2 galactic, but it seems that the pub/sub mechanism on my machine is broken?

Example 1) Turtlesim starts but teleop with keys does not mak it move Examples 2) ros2 topic list seems to hang (along with every other process I try to start node, play etc)

Anybody know what is going on?
