Cheapest camera for building obstacle avoiding drone.

asked 2022-02-04 05:23:30 -0500

I am a CSE student and for our pre final year project we are building obstacle avoiding hexacopter. We are using Pixihawk 2.4.6 and Px4 autopilot.

According to documentation, "Both planners require a 3D point cloud of type sensor_msgs::PointCloud2. Any camera that can provide such data is compatible.".

Here is the documentation :- link text So, I am new to ROS and want suggestion about what is it saying in above quote and can I use any camera for this project ? ,or do I have to use some specific one.

Please suggest a budget friendly camera.

Hi @lucifero__1

You could find really cheap hardware but if the documentation is not good the experience will be frustrating. I’d consider buying the PX4 flow camera. It’s not too expensive and documentation is great. Also you will find support is responsive.

Good luck with your project
