`rosinstall_generator desktop --deps` vs github.com/ros2/ros2/ros2.repos
I am compiling from source to create and distribute packages for my Linux distro. I frequently used the official building instructions for my desktop and rosinstall_generator
to build a ros_base
variant for my robot.
Typically I create a base package (e.g., desktop or ros_base) and an extra overlay (e.g., turtlebot3) package like this:
export ROS_DISTRO=galactic
ROS_PACKAGE_PATH=/opt/ros/$ROS_DISTRO rosinstall_generator turtlebot3 --deps --exclude RPP turtlebot3_cartographer turtlebot3_navigation2 | vcs import src
...
Is there a difference between the installed packages when I use
- https://github.com/ros2/ros2/ros2.repos
- rosinstall_generator desktop --deps
?
