I am looking for an IMU that has a compatible package I can incorporate into my bot. I am having little luck getting sparkfun imus to work or the phidget one

What’s your budget ? If you want to spend some bucks, xsens IMUs are good and they have a nice driver for ros

so like this one https://shop-us.xsens.com/shop/mti-1-...

has a ros package that works with it. I have been able to get all my sensors up beside the imu. I have been stuck on it for two weeks and I desperately need one for this project.

Yes I had previously used mti-10 and mti-30 modules. My experience with them were good. You should however make sure that the specific module you are getting meets your requirement. Things Like, if you need absolute heading or additional gnss receivers etc.

I do not need all the bells and whistles. I am new to robotics as a whole and have a project I need to get up. Would setting the MTi-3-DK be something a beginner would be able to accomplish? I am really only looking to gather and log directions data at the beginning.

For instance I am looking at buying the Mti-7 dev kit (https://shop-us.xsens.com/shop/mti-1-...) Are the drivers compatible with ubuntu 20.04 because thats what the bot has currently installed. I know i am throwing a lot of questions but I have no issue buying the hardware if the software works well. Saves me a headache and time
