Documentation for obstacle avoidance ?

I am looking for documentation or research material on obstacle avoidance/detection or Recovery behaviors if such thing is available as I couldn't find any. I am assuming someone must have published something. Thank you,

This is the first thing that pops up when I Duck Duck Go "ROS Obstacle Avoidance".

Can you be more specific? What have you tried and why doesn't it work?

Thank you , There is nothing not working , I'm just trying to create my own recovery behaviors , since I'm not using the move_base's recoveries , I'm wondering if there are previous work that could help me out . and I think that Your link will be great , thank you once again !
