How to subscribe to an action server's feedback

What is the recommendation for subscribing to the feedback of an action server? I tried having a node subscribe to it but it didn't work, despite rostopic echo working. Currently, I'm publishing the feedback on a separate topic so that I can subscribe to the data, but this is wasteful.
