Now, I use ROS Melodic on Ubuntu 18 on Intel CPU. I guess Ubuntu natively runs on M1 but I did not see any information about ROS issue. Can someone give information about Ubuntu, MacOS, VirtualMachine, ROS? What is my options if I buy a M1 Macbook?

I have the new macbook, I could not run virtualbox but parellels is supported and I use it to run ubuntu. Regarding ROS, I still have problems in installing it which could be not supported yet.

If I am not wrong, there is efforts on porting linux to ARM M1 but they are not very mature, that's why i think ubuntu probably is not properly compatible with it.

Even Linus Torvalds itself complained about it ( https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/... )

So, not sure if you can find a way to use ROS on M1.

I am using M1 Macbook, it is not reliable and needs many configurations to build the packages.

You can install Ubuntu 20.04 (Arm64 based) for Noetic using parallels but still has many issues.
