Converting pointcloud (.pcd) file to a height map

Does the grid_map library or PCL library have the ability to generate a height map using a pointcloud file in .pcd format? If not, could someone point me to a resource/code that uses these or other libraries to accomplish this task?

Checkout grid_map_pcl for converting a pointcloud from a .pcd file to a grid map.
