rosbag reindex only ignores the last 90% of the bag file

Hi,

I have a really important bagfile, which is not easy to redo and has unique data. It has a size of 29GB. However the recording seem to not finished correctly, so I tried to run rosbag reindex. However it only restores the first 3.5GB and all the rest is missing.

Do you have any help how to get the whole bag fixed?

This sounds similar to #q360520.

rosbag has limited repair functionality, but @iiton was able to recover almost all of the .bag the OP in #q360520 had problems with.

Perhaps he can add something here.

@bjajo, our recovery tool is not yet publicly available. But if you are in a hurry, get in touch (info at spectx.com) and if possible we can do the recovery for you.

If the bag is very messed then the recovery requires one more sample bag (small but with the same message types). This is needed in a situation where both the header and the footer (index) are very broken.
