rviz, reorientate world frame

Hi, dear colleagues!

Didn't find answer/solution. So, the question: is it possible to set orientation of world frame other than default. Specifically, for me it would be good if Z-axis is "horizontal"...

Maybe some change in source code? Someone did this?

Thanks for your advice.

Maxim.

I'm not entirely clear on what you're after, so correct me if I miss your point. It sounds like you want to change the view in RViz, which can be done in the "Views" panel on the right. The RViz documentation provides more information on the different built-in options. You can also make your own view and save it. Here's a view I made by starting with the default "FrameAligned (rviz)" view and adding -90 deg (-1.57 rad) of roll: image description

So, for example, grid plane is "horizontal" and the z-axis is right (or left, no matter) instead of up/down.

Is this what you mean? Note the grid's plane is now YZ (left panel).

Hi, tryan!

Thanks for your answer. Yes I tried your way (changed type of frame view mode), and probably is a variant, but I desire to change frame orientation relative to visible grid. So, for example, grid plane is "horizontal" and the z-axis is right (or left, no matter) instead of up/down.

Do you know, is it possible?
