rviz black screen sometimes at startup

I have been running the same rviz conf for months and mostly have no issues. But lately there is a black screen at startup sometimes and it happens randomly. So far just closing everything and running it again has helped but the issue appears more and more often. What can be wrong? Can anyone help me to debug?

ROS Melodic, Ubuntu 18.04, Nvidia GTX 2080 Super.
