Preparing ROS Robot for Release

I am just wondering what the typical procedure is for preparing or finalising a robot for release. I have only worked with ROS robots in a development environment but I am now wondering what should be done to the robot before someone would "release" or "sell" the robot (handle logging, testing, etc...). Any resources would be helpful.
