How will you achieve low level communication? I mean to command motors?

@Tahir M.

Actually, I used DE1-SoC this embedded board to trajectory tracking before.

Now I want to know if I can use this board and a laptop to complete motor control and ROS related work.

Or what equipment I need to add to complete the operation

You can use small PCs, such as Intel NUC (x86) or DJI Manifold (x86/TX2)

The plan is feasible. You can have a look at Turtlebot 2 which actually comes with a laptop. You will need a board/motor driver which actually does the low level communication. A part from that you can do everything on your laptop.

@Tahir M. OK!

So maybe I have to change my board to do the low level communication?

Is there anything to pay attention to when choosing?

It depends which sort of motors do you use and what do you want out of it. For example if you want to use Dyanmixel motors than for that a U2D2 converter is fine or an OpenCR board. Because for these motors you dont need a motor driver but may be for other motors you need a motor driver as well. There is one other example like Hebi Motors, for these you don't need a motor driver or an embeded board you just need to connect them directly to your PC or router and control them(though they are a little expensive). So I think it depends what you want to use dependent upon resources. And everything else ofcourse you can do on your laptop.
