Is it possible to add modifications to autoware and then use it in CARLA?

The answer is most likely yes, that's part of the value of open-source! I'm sure they'd love to chat with you about adding your own contributions to autoware.

You can certainly make your own modifications! You will need to create a fork of each of the repositories that make up Autoware, make the changes you want on your fork, and then compile it on your machine. It you wish to contribute those changes back to Autoware, then you make a Pull Request back to the official Autoware repo.

For more detailed instructions on contributing to an open-source repository, see this example repository.
