"Failed to process package 'catkin'" when trying to download ROS kinetic

I'm trying to install ROS kinetic on Ubuntu by following the steps given in this link: http://wiki.ros.org/kinetic/Installat....

When I try entering ./src/catkin/bin/catkin_make_isolated --install -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release within ros_catkin_ws, I get the following error. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Could you please first explain why you want to build ROS from source on an Ubuntu version for which there are binary packages available of the ROS version you are looking to install?
