Autoware: lane_planner, how is route_cmd specified?

I am trying to use laneplanner with a lanelet2 map. I am assuming lanenavi is waiting on a routecmd to create lanewaypoints_array message for the rest of the software to use. How do you specify a route or is there another software that would be better to use?
