how to show laser scan data on rviz?

there is no laser scan data showing on rviz against topic kobuki/laser/scan. there are no errors showwing on rviz but still no laser data showing there.

I think you need to give us some more information here. Is laser data coming through? How do you know? Can you rostopic echo and see it? Are the TF trees there to visualize it. When you say no errors, where are you looking?
