Hello. I'm working on ROS kinetic with Ubuntu 16.04.

I'm going to use THETA camera, which is an RGB sensor, with LiDAR to make them an RGB-D sensor. And as far as I know, it is necessary to execute calibration work at least once. Unfortunately, all the RGB-D sensors I've used so far already get done that work, so I'm not familiar with it yet. Since THETA camera is also a kind of RGB sensors, I don't doubt that it is impossible to have it has depth detection. However, I wonder it might be ok if I use the ordinary 2D LiDAR sensor; I have a feeling that the 3D LiDAR sensor would make sene than 2D-one.

If anyone who has ever done the calibration works with an RGB camera and LiDAR sensor, would you give me some advice wrt which types of LiDAR would be appropriate or which package is recommendable?

Thanks in advance :)
