Hello everyone!

I'm trying to get started with ROS, but can't even get through the installation tutorial ( ) When trying to install ros-kinetic-desktop-full I get the error:

Unable to locate package ros-kinetic-desktop-full

I checked the apt package repository at and sure enough, there are no kinetic packages. Repositories for other OS's seem to have the packages (albeit some of course have the ROS melodic packaged). I checked the mirrors as well, but none of them had the packages.

Were the packages removed?

Did you run 'sudo apt-get update' after setting up the apt sources and keys?

Yes, I followed the tutorial precisely and checked the apt cache if there are any packages from the ROS repository in it. ( There are, but only the ones from ) The kinetic packages are missing.

I switched to Ubuntu (xenial) and there it works without problems. And checking the repository, the packages are in the xenial repo, but not in the jessie repo. Is there a way to contact the repository maintainer about this?

Does #q239466 answer this?
