I don't know if I'm the only one who's experiencing this at the moment but for some reason, most ros-melodic packages are just refusing to install. I have just tried to install three different packages randomly with the same outcome. My Ubuntu Version: Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release: 18.04 Codename: bionic

ROS Version: Melodic

Originally I wanted to install the 'ros-melodic-pid' package and got the error below. As a result I checked two other packages randomly with exact same error:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  ros-melodic-pid
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 150 not upgraded.
Need to get 125 kB of archives.
After this operation, 629 kB of additional disk space will be used.

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Note that I updated my repos. 'sudo apt-get update' already. I don't know what else could be wrong. Help needed.

Could this be caused by this build-farm update. The key has recently been changed due a security breach.

@afroRoboticist: there is no need to use all caps. I've updated your question title to be a little more descriptive, and with less caps.

No, that message is confusing, but it's actually not the problem here.

YEP, you are right. the requested file did not exist at this repository. Checked via browser. So apt update failed and database is not at the latest state.

Indeed. Because the correct key has not been imported. See my answer.

Please see #q325039.

This is caused by the recent key change.
