Turtlebot Z-coordinate jitters when using ROS Indigo

When I use ROS Indigo with the Turtlebot2 robot using the Turtlebot package for navigation (which I believe relies on the standard ROS navigation stack) the visualization of the Robot in Rviz constantly jitters/jumps up and down around 1cm in the Z-direction. There is no similar jitter in the X and Y coordinates and the robot navigates fine. When I use ROS Kinetic I do not see this jitter in the robot's pose Z-coordinate. Would anyone know why this is happening in ROS Indigo or what I can do to try to debug it?
