Error when installing ros-kinetic-ros-tutorials
Hello, I'm new to ROS, and i'm trying to install ROS Kinetic on my Debian Stretch. I'm currently following this tutorial.
When I enter:
$ sudo apt-get install ros-kinetic-ros-tutorials
The output and error I get is as follows:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package ros-kinetic-ros-tutorial
I've tried searching around my file system and I cannot find the package
The same thing occurs when I try to run another command further down the tutorial:
$ rosrun turtlesim turtlesim_node
Which gives me:
[rospack] Error: package 'turtlesim' not found
Similarly, this package is missing as well.
I would appreciate some advice on this issue as i'm stuck on it for quite a while now. Thank you.
Alternatively, If anyone knows where I could get these packages, i'd appreciate a link to download them. Thank you.
Please tell us how you installed ROS, which platform this is (ie: RPi, regular PC, something else), and which architecture (
amd64
,i386
,armv8
, etc).If you can list the exact commands, or link us to a set of installation steps, that would help.
I've installed ROS on Raspberry Pi 3B+, using the instructions from http://wiki.ros.org/ROS/Tutorials/Ins...
As for architecture it uses ARM Cortex-A53 processor (forgive me if that's not what you're looking for)
I don't believe http://wiki.ros.org/ROS/Tutorials/Ins... is an installation tutorial. What I'm specifically after is whether you did a source install or used
apt
.If you did a source install, you cannot use
apt-get
afterwards to install other pkgs.Ah I see, I have not done a source install. Apologies, the install guide is specifically this page: http://wiki.ros.org/kinetic/Installat...
Have followed it step by step
According to that page there is no Kinetic support for Debian Stretch, and REP-3 tells me the same.
What is the contents of
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ros-latest.list
?I'm not sure what you did exactly still, but just noticed this:
The package name is
ros-tutorials
, with ans
, notros-tutorial
.The command you show and the error msg do not seem to correspond.
The content of /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ros-latest.list is:
