Hello All.

Good Morning. I am working with planning a Robot implementation for an automation project. We are planning with RevPI for developing the control algorithms in ROS. I would like to know if we can straight forward install ROS in RevPi ? Or is it not completely possible, or with any constraints?

Thanks in advance.

Venkat.

Hi there Venkat, from this picture I see they are using a default raspberry pi board in the card size.

That being the case I'm more than confident that you can install ROS in there, check one of the tutorials to do so.

I haven't worked with RevPI but I assume they'll give you ssh access and since you have an ethernet port in there you can connect to the web, so you should be good to go.

If you have questions on the installation process you can ask. But if you follow the tutorial it's pretty straight forward.

Hi,

Today I successfully installed ROS Kinetic robot package on RevPi module. Because eMMC of RevPi has only 4GB i used external flash drive (16GB) on which i uploaded and mounted raspbian root. I also must create swap file, RevPi has not enought RAM memory to compile some packages.

I followed this tutorial as mentioned above.

Total size of this image with ros robot and dependencies is now 3,9GB. If You will success with installing it on RevPi eMMC please let me know.

Also if You need more details or have questions, I can help.
